The Coffee Trail Ride

Your Colombian riding adventure begins with a morning meeting in Armenia before heading into the heart of Colombia’s famous Coffee Region. Along the way, you’ll visit a traditional saddlery to learn more about Colombian tack before enjoying a lively Arrieros (muleteer) show, celebrating the culture and traditions of the region’s early coffee pioneers.

Later, you’ll arrive at your first countryside hacienda, where you’ll settle in and enjoy a tasting of locally produced coffee before dinner.

After meeting your horses and being fitted with your tack, you’ll set off on your first full day in the saddle. Riding through rolling hills, lush coffee plantations and picturesque rural landscapes, you’ll quickly discover why this region is considered one of Colombia’s most beautiful.

Following lunch in the colourful village of Pijao, you’ll continue along quiet country tracks to the coffee town of Córdoba. Here, you’ll learn about the journey of coffee from cultivation to roasting and tasting before settling in for the evening.

Today’s circular ride explores the spectacular countryside surrounding Córdoba. Winding trails lead through endless coffee plantations, forested hills and traditional farming communities, with plenty of opportunities to admire the breathtaking scenery.

You’ll also visit one of the finest viewpoints in Quindío Province, offering panoramic views across the mountains and coffee-growing landscapes before returning to your accommodation for the night.

Today’s trail continues through the lush hills of Colombia’s Coffee Region, where coffee plantations, tropical forests and fertile farmland create an ever-changing landscape. On clear days, you may even catch glimpses of the snow-capped peaks of Los Nevados National Park in the distance.

Arriving at your next countryside hacienda in the afternoon, you’ll have time to relax before enjoying dinner with your fellow riders.

One of the highlights of the trail, today’s ride showcases a dramatic change in scenery. Climbing into the hills before descending through lush tropical forest, you’ll experience the incredible diversity of the Coffee Region.

A picnic lunch is enjoyed beside a crystal-clear river surrounded by coffee plantations before continuing on horseback through beautiful countryside to your next overnight stop.

Today’s destination is the colourful mountain town of Salento, one of Colombia’s most iconic and charming destinations. Surrounded by spectacular scenery, Salento is renowned for its brightly painted buildings, lively cafés, artisan shops and welcoming atmosphere.

Spend the afternoon exploring its picturesque streets before enjoying dinner and another relaxing evening.

Today’s ride takes you into the breathtaking Cocora Valley, one of Colombia’s most famous natural landmarks and home to the country’s national tree, the towering Wax Palm. Riding through this spectacular landscape on horseback offers a unique perspective of the valley’s rolling green hills and dramatic mountain scenery.

After exploring this remarkable UNESCO-recognised landscape, you’ll return to Salento for your final evening together.

After breakfast, you’ll transfer by road to Armenia Airport, a journey of approximately 1.5  hours, for your onward flight to Bogotá and your international connection home.
