Estancia Los Potreros Riding Holiday

You will be met at Córdoba International Airport and transferred to the estancia, arriving in time for a late lunch. In the afternoon you head out on an introductory ride designed to familiarise you with traditional gaucho style. Riding with long legs, a deep seat, and neck reining soon feels natural, especially with the comfort of sheepskin saddles. In the evening, dinner is served under the stars as the parrilla is lit and delicious home produce is prepared over open flames.

Today you ride to the highest point on the estancia, known as the Top of the World. The climb rewards you with sweeping views across the Sierras Chicas and offers excellent opportunities to spot condors and eagles along the ridge. After lunch on the verandah, you are introduced to the Peruvian Paso. You learn about this unique 4-beat lateral gaited breed before trying its remarkably smooth movement for yourself. In the evening, the farm kitchen opens for a hands on cooking experience paired with fine Argentine wines.

This morning you ride out with the gauchos to explore a different area of the farm. Expect forward riding and open stretches where you can enjoy a gallop across the hills, keeping an eye out for burrowing owls against the vast sky. Mid morning coffee is taken with panoramic views before returning for a traditional asado featuring several cuts of home reared beef and generous pours of Malbec. The afternoon is yours to relax by the pool, followed by an informal wine tasting and a candlelit dinner in the evening.

Today is dedicated to cattle work. You ride out to help gather and move the award winning Aberdeen Angus herd across the hills to the cattle station. It is practical, engaging riding that gives real insight into ranch life. Lunch is served outdoors beneath a shady tree in true gaucho fashion. In the afternoon, you can try your hand at the lasso in the corrals before enjoying long canters along the hilltops as you return to the estancia for tea and cake on the verandah.

This morning’s ride descends to a hidden waterfall where you can cool off with a swim or simply relax in the shade. From there, a long canter takes you up to Potrero de Niz, the original family home perched high above the valleys. A picnic lunch is served on the porch, with views so expansive you may be reluctant to leave. In the afternoon you ride back via the Bellstone, a geological curiosity that adds a final point of interest to your exploration.

After breakfast, you depart the estancia for your onward travels, leaving with a deep appreciation for Argentine riding tradition, ranch life, and the remarkable landscapes of the Sierras Chicas.
